Champagne Versus Prosecco

Whether your call it Champagne, bubbly, Prosecco, or sparkling wine, it’s time to set the record straight!  You see, Dolls, I have always considered myself a bit of a Champagne connoisseur.  I love tasting new Champagnes and learning all about them.  Fun fact, whenever I call my mom she always tells me that Champagne Is Always The Answer®.  That’s right — my sweet momma was the inspiration behind our trademarked motto at POSH PR®!  I do my best thinking with a glass of Champagne in hand.

Now when I learned that today was National Prosecco Day, I knew it was the perfect time to show off my educating skills!  So today I am breaking down all of the facts about Champagne versus Prosecco.  Who’s ready to learn?!  And here’s a little SPOILER ALERT — Champagne and Prosecco are NOT the same!

Champagne and Prosecco both fall under the umbrella of the Sparkling Wine family, but each have distinctive differences.  From the the way they are produced to the regions in which they come from, the differences are important to note!  Check out some of the key details below:

Prosecco Facts

  • From the Veneto region of Italy

  • Mainly made from the Glera grape

  • Lower price point

  • Tends to be sweeter with notes of fruit

Champagne Facts

  • Only sparkling wines produced in the Champagne region of France can be called Champagne

  • Made with a combination of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes

  • The two most popular brands include Dom Perignon and Veuve Clicquot

  • Can have a rich, complex, yeast-y taste

Now it is no secret that I am a Champagne girl through and through.  Did I ever tell you Dolls about the time I fought the province of Champagne, France for my trademark?!  That’s right!  I love Champagne so much that I took on a whole region in France just to call it mine.  Well as we all know, I won that battle!  Champagne Is Always The Answer® will forever be our motto as POSH PR®!  Now no matter what you have in your glass today, I hope it is bubbly and adding a big smile to your face.  It IS National Prosecco Day so maybe I’ll switch it up…just this once!  Remember that bubbly is not just meant for celebrating the big moments in life — it’s meant for celebrating life’s everyday wins! It’s time to live your best Champagne life!
