I’m a Barbie Girl in a PR World

Hey there, my sweet Dolls!!!  I am so excited for today’s blog because it’s all about my favorite idol of all time, Barbie!  Barbie is celebrating her 60th Anniversary this year and I can't think of a better way to honor her diamond anniversary than by sharing my favorite things about her.

Okay, so I’ve got a quick history lesson for you!  Barbie was invented in 1959 by Ruth Handler after watching her own daughter Barbara (who Barbie is named after!) play with paper dolls for hours on end.  When Barbie first made her debut at the New York Toy Fair, she was met with skepticism by the industry.  Now we know that’s not the end of our girl’s story though because, as all strong boss dolls do, Ruth pushed through the doubt and believed in her work.  Over 60 years later, Barbie stands tall as a true testament to what a female entrepreneur and some motivation can do!  When I set out to start POSH PR®, I had to face my own fair share of skepticism.  No one thought a brand centered around the color pink, bottles of champagne, and women in business could be successful, but like a true Barbie girl, I knew I had to persevere.

Most people don't know that Caroline Doll is what my mom has called me my whole life.  I remember going into the toy store as a child and being mesmerized by all the beautiful things.  But Barbie always stood out to me.  Not for the obvious reasons like she is pretty or I liked her clothes, but because Barbie was my first peek into the realization that I could be anything I wanted to be.  Barbie was a teacher, a doctor, a mom, an astronaut, and so much more.

She inspired me to go for my dreams.

Bringing Barbie into #TheDollHQ wasn't done for superficial reasons like her blonde hair or pink lipstick — it's to serve as a reminder to my clients that they can have their own chance at living their dream life.

Even today, Barbie reminds me that women in business can be successful!  She’s fashionable, motivated, and a wonderful role model to all girls that they can be anything they want to be.  Barbie has had over 180 careers and is constantly changing and adapting to the world around her.  Can I please note that she did all of this while also managing to be the most stylish girl around?!  Barbie is a Boss Doll™ in every way!

I had the best time recreating this Barbie image that hangs on the wall of my office.  When you put braided pigtails, pink faux fur, and bubble gum all together, you know it's going to be a good time!  Barbie will always stand as my reminder that I can live my dream life.  She continues to inspire me to go for my dreams in my personal and professional life each day.

Xo,
