Brands that Give Back
The spirit of Christmas lies in the spirit of giving. So, I wanted to share with you some of my very favorite brands that give back! If you are picturing burlap dresses and tennis shoes made out of water bottles, well, those things exist, but I believe that living charitably can be fashion-infused, too!
Réna Iman has a gorgeous and socially-conscious line of handbags and leather goods. She donates to charities that create awareness and provide healing and education for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault.
My favorite razor subscription, Angel Shave Club, sets aside both funds and time to assist girls in developing nations to receive education. They are thoughtful and well-researched when it comes to the best way to invest in impoverished communities, and they have found that educating girls is one of the best ways to do so.
Admittedly, it’s hard to “give back” when you are focusing on something intangible—like the future health of the planet! But, sustainably made clothing is a key part of giving back to the generations ahead of us. That’s why I love Poppy Row, a West Coast clothing brand run by a good friend of mine (you might remember our feature from last year!) Poppy Row clothing is made from sustainable fabrics like eucalyptus. Did anyone even know that eucalyptus could become fabric? I did not!
This may not count as “fashion,” but the white chocolate confetti bars I mentioned earlier this week are also made by a women-centric company. Wild Ophelia, the chocolate company, runs an accelerator program to help female entrepreneurs launch their own businesses. A portion of Wild Ophelia sales contributes to their grant program. I love a woman-owned company that empowers other #girlbosses!
As for me, I am passionate about using the blessings from POSH PR® to bless others! This can take the form of tithing to the Greek Church, sponsoring local events like the Mrs. Virginia pageant, and “adopting” local families over the holidays! Giving back to the community that loves us so well is important to me. There are just so many incredibly giving organizations out there, and so little time! So tell me, dolls, what causes are you passionate about?
